Being an action hero is tough but not as tough as being a detective.
Robert Downey Jr., who stars in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie told MTV News, “Sherlock Holmes is easily the toughest job I’ve ever had.”
In Guy Ritchie’s big-budget adaption, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s character is reinvented for the 21st century as (what else?) a martial arts expert. Holmes is “a total bada**,” says the Oscar winning actor. “He thinks through all eventualities, possibilities and counterattacks when he’s fighting, so he actually has the fight worked out before he starts.”
Canadian actress Rachel McAdams plays Holmes’ love interest on screen but word is that the real romance in the movie is the one between Holmes and his sidekick Watson, played by Jude Law. For months the Internet has been abuzz with speculation about the nature of the relationship between the two men, said to contain homoerotic undertones. But it’s not a bromance. That’s so 2007.
Downey Jr. is cavalier on the subject telling MTV, “I think bromance is passé. We are two men who happen to be roommates who wrestle a lot!”
Sherlock Holmes hits theatres December 25th.
