Adam SandlerAdam Sandler is embracing a chance to show off his feminine side. The ambitious actor will take on both lead roles in the upcoming Sony Pictures romantic comedy ‘Jack and Jill.’ According to Variety, Sandler will star as both Jack and twin sister, Jill.

It won’t be the funnyman’s first foray into cross dressing. As the loving father of two Disney Princess fans, Sandler reportedly dresses up in a princess costume when reading bedtime stories to his daughters. “You would be surprised at how good I look in a ball gown,” he has been quoted as saying.

It is not known whether the movie is connected in any way to the nursery rhyme in which Jack and Jill go up a hill to fetch a pail of water, Jack falls down and breaks his crown and Jill comes tumbling after.

Sandler’s involvement with ‘Jack and Jill’ goes beyond acting and donning womenswear. The film will be produced via his production company, ‘Happy Madison,’ which has backed other Sandler vehicles, ‘Mr. Deeds,’ ‘Anger Management’ and ‘50 First Dates.’ Steven Koren, Sandler’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ colleague has written the ‘Jack and Jill’ screenplay.

Scheduled for filming early next year, ‘Jack and Jill’ won’t be released by Sony until 2011.

Sandler recently worked with Sony on the high school reunion comedy, ‘Grown Ups,’ due for release in June 2010. He will also be the voice of a capuchin monkey in the MGM/Sony comedy ‘Zookeeper.’
