Kill Bill Vol. 3 will not be called Kill Bill

Uma ThurmanAs the buzz starts to mount about a third ‘Kill Bill’ movie, you might be asking, “Didn’t Bill get killed in ‘Kill Bill Vol. 2? And, in that case, shouldn’t the third movie be called something else?”

Well, the answers are a) Yes. Bill did get killed, when The Bride, a.k.a. Beatrix Kiddo, used the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique on him. And b) Also, yes. Quentin Tarantino has already thought of that.

The director told MTV, “It wouldn’t be ‘Kill Bill.’ It would be Volume 3 of the story of The Bride.”

The Bride is played by Uma Thurman, who developed the character with Tarantino. The end of the second movie saw the former member of a deadly group of assassins reunited with her daughter after exacting her revenge on Bill — who had, years earlier, killed everyone at her wedding rehearsal, stolen the unborn child from her womb, and left her for dead.

Whatever it winds up being called, work on the project won’t begin just yet. Tarantino always said he would wait ten years, to give the Bride’s character some time to spend with her daughter, before putting her in another flick.

“There’s no script; there are just ideas and notes,” Tarantino told MTV. “I won’t do that next, but it could very well be the thing I do after next.”

David Carradine, the actor who played Bill, died in June of this year.
