Michael Douglas Sued by Ex Over Wall Street 2

In Oliver Stone’s 1987 film classic Wall Street, Michael Douglas played Gordon Gekko, a corporate raider with the mantra “Greed is good!” It’s a sentiment the actor no doubt takes issue with in real life.

As Douglas, 65, prepares for this summer’s release of the sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, he’s now being sued by his ex-wife Diandra Douglas, 52.

The New York Post reports that when the couple split in 2000, after 23 years of marriage, Diandra was awarded half of the profits from movies he made while they were together. A provision in the agreement said the same applied to any “spin-offs” of those films.

Now the famous Mr. Douglas is in the position of having to argue that a sequel is not the same thing as a spin-off; and the case has landed the pair back in court.

“It’s the same character, the same title, just years later,” Nancy Chemtob, Diandra’s lawyer told Manhattan Supreme Court. The judge agreed that spin-offs and sequels are different things, but is still trying to determine if the case should be heard in New York, where both Douglases now live – or back in California, where the original judge made his ruling.

Douglas, the star of Wonder Boys, Romancing the Stone and The Streets of San Francisco, is currently married to the gorgeous British actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.

During the divorce trial, Diandra claimed Michael was a sex addict who repeatedly cheated on her. The judge awarded her $45 million in the split.
