Close scrapes with delirious fans is something that comes with being Justin Bieber.

The pint sized teen idol causes riots of squealing tweens and teens wherever he goes, including Paris, France, where police were forced to shut down an in-store appearance in February due to hoards of hysterical French girls. Recent footage also shows him making a smooth getaway – riding on a Segway – from screaming girls in an Arizona parking lot.

Thank goodness his Mom Patti Mallette is there to protect him. The Bieb relies on the most important woman in his life to shield him from the constant crush of adoring young fans, many of whom apparently show up wearing next to nothing, and sometimes nothing at all. He told Vibe.com, “My mom has me on a tight leash and (she’s) being real protective. The girls show up wearing nothing. I can’t lie, I’m 16, I don’t hate it. I don’t have a girlfriend.”

And Patti lays down the law in other areas too, making sure her son doesn’t get too big for his britches. Justin says, “My mom is still my mom. She could care less if I’m an international superstar. I still have to clean my room on the tour bus. She takes my computer at 12 [a.m.] so I can sleep. I don’t have a bedtime [but] she doesn’t want me on the computer because she doesn’t want it to rot my brain. When she takes away my computer, I still play with my iPad. She doesn’t know.”

Well, she might now.
