So romantic! Morrissey might not be everyone’s first choice for a wedding singer but Katy Perry and Russell Brand are thinking of getting the former Smiths frontman to perform at their pending nuptials.

For his part, however, Morrissey doesn’t think the pair should tie the knot.

According to the UK Sun, Katy met Russell’s good friend Morrissey (The Sun says Russell named his cat after him) for the first time recently. She said, “I met Morrissey for the first time the other day and we had tea together.

“He’s Russell’s mate and he is fascinating but he was giving us a hard time about getting married.

“He swooned and sighed, ‘Oh, left hand third finger, don’t do it.’ It was just so eloquent and poetic and like one of his songs.”

Despite the light protestations, Katy said, the star is still invited to the wedding, which will take place in India this autumn. She said, “It’s going to be a small ceremony, so I don’t think we’ll have a proper band. I’d love to have Morrissey.”
