After forty years and almost two dozen hits, legendary rock band Aerosmith may finally be getting ready to call it a day.
With speculation building that lead singer Steven Tyler may be joining the judges’ table on American Idol, guitarist Joe Perry says the future of the band is “up in the air.”
Though no official announcement has been made concerning the rumours that Tyler may replace the departing Simon Cowell, Perry appears to have let the cat out of the bag with comments he made to Cincinnati.com.
“[Tyler] told me just a couple of days ago he signed his papers to join the show,” Perry said. “As far as he knew, everything’s set to go.”
The future of the band, which is currently wrapping up their Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock tour, is apparently in doubt with other members of the group unsure of when they might work together again.
“I think everybody’s a little worn out,” the 59-year-old Perry said. “The tour is winding up, and we don’t know when we’ll work again as band. That part of it is up in the air, and it’s starting to hit home.”
Aerosmith was formed in Boston in 1970 and released their first album in 1973. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

When it comes to delivering for his fans, tween-pop, chart-topping sensation Justin Bieber is a machine .
Sick for much of August, Bieber has continued his tour despite being “very ill” according to celebrity gossip website Celebuzz. Forced to cancel a Sunday, August 29th performance at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, the 16-year-old Baby singer has vowed to return to the stage on Tuesday night, even if it means defying doctors orders.
To be sure, the performance on Tuesday (August 31) isn’t just any old show for The Bieb, it’s his Madison Square Garden debut – a concert that will be captured for posterity in the young star’s first concert film.
Just in case fans were worried their teen idol might pull out of the show, the Stratford, Ontario native took to Twitter to guarantee his arrival – regardless of the medical advice of his doctors.
“Ok the doctor said we aren’t 100 percent but we are ready to ROcK!!” Bieber tweeted. “Been cleared. MSG let’s do this!!! Let’s fill the streets of NYC!”

R&B star Chris Brown may have jumped the gun when he took to Twitter to hype a potential tour with superstar Usher. Starpulse reports that, not long after the With You singer tweeted the news to his followers, Usher’s people quickly shot down the suggestion.
The hubbub started when producer Bryan Michael Cox posted a video on YouTube in which he claimed the pair were recording a track together. Both performers have worked with Cox before, so it was reasonable to expect the music man knew what he was talking about when he added “Usher and the boy Chris Brown are going on tour, y’all know that, right? I might’ve just gave y’all some exclusive s—!”
Brown himself added fuel to the proverbial fire with a follow-up post on Twitter asking, “What would you guys say if me and Usher went on tour?”
Usher appeared to be playing along when he tweeted, “If you could see Usher perform live with anyone – who would it be?”
But it may have been a coincidence. Or his management is doing damage control. Whatever the case, the official word in a statement reads, “There are no plans for Usher and Brown to tour together.”
Brown has been struggling since a criminal conviction for assaulting Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, in 2009. Earlier this year the 21-year-old singer was forced to cancel his U.K. tour when British immigration officials denied him a work visa to enter the country.

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan is lashing out at Hollywood, accusing the film industry of displaying a sexist double standard when it comes to dealing with stars who screw up.
The I Know Who Killed Me and Mean Girls star tells Vanity Fair magazine that men in the business who have gotten into trouble are allowed to “keep their deals,” while female stars are left to suffer the consequences.
The twenty-four-year-old actor tells the magazine she believes her career would be a whole lot healthier if she were a man. “It’s not OK,” she says. “But they (men) still keep their deals, they still keep their contracts, they still keep their roles, they still get their gigs.”
While Mel Gibson might disagree that men in Hollywood go unpunished for their sins, no one can dispute that Lohan’s career has suffered as a result of her troubles.
Though she appears in a small role in the upcoming Machete, LiLo has had a hard time finding good parts ever since her substance abuse issues became well known. Those issues came to the fore this past summer, when Lohan did jail time stemming from a 2007 DUI arrest.
In addition to her legal woes, Lohan has also been accused of being difficult and unreliable on film sets.
Machete, which stars Danny Trejo, Steven Seagal and Robert De Niro chops its way into theatres September 3.
They say that too much of a good thing can be, well, too much of a good thing. It’s a lesson James Cameron has never seemed to learn, but now has 4 million reasons to think about.
The director’s decision to re-release his sci-fi blockbuster Avatar on 3D and IMAX screens with nine minutes of new footage was met with a collective shrug by movie audiences this past weekend.
Avatar is the highest-grossing movie of all time and attracted massive crowds during its first run last winter. But the Los Angeles Times reports that the new release brought in only $4 million its first weekend, even with the extra ticket cost for 3D and IMAX films.
While $4 million may seem like a lot of money to you and me, it’s a paltry gross for a huge film playing on over 800 screens across North America.
The re-release comes only four months after Avatar’s DVD and Blu-Ray release and only two months before an upcoming Avatar: Special Edition DVD release. Speculation has already begun that Avatar’s failure to bring audiences back for another go round may have killed the Hollywood concept of re-releasing films all together.

“To infinity and beyond…” is no longer just Buzz Lightyear’s catchphrase – it’s also the perfect way to describe the box office success of Toy Story 3.
Weeks ago, the family flick overtook Shrek 2 to become the highest grossing animated film of all time. Now the blockbuster smash hit has set another record, becoming the first cartoon in movie history to gross over a billion dollars.
The third installment in Pixar’s Toy Story series stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz – the favourite toys of a kid named Andy. TS3 finds Andy all grown up and ready to head off to college, leaving his childhood toys behind.
But chances are you already know that, as the delightful tale has been one of the biggest hits of the summer of 2010.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland managed a similar feat this past spring, making Disney the first studio in history to have two films gross a cool billion in the same year.
Rich Ross, Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, is understandably excited about the studio’s success. “It’s been an incredible year as we saw the Pixar team bring Buzz and Woody back to the big screen and watched Tim Burton’s vision for Alice in Wonderland take the world by storm. These box office triumphs prove that creative storytelling brought to life by imaginative, inspired and talented professionals is something audiences respond to the world over.”
John Lennon’s toilet sold for 9,500 British Pounds (approx. $15,000) at auction on Saturday, according to Billboard. The sale price was more than 10 times its reported presale estimate of 750-1,000 pounds.
The toilet was one of the more interesting items of Beatles memorabilia sold as part of Liverpool’s Beatle Week Festival.
Billboard says the late former Beatle had the item removed from Tittenhurst Park in Berkshire, southern England, where he lived from 1969 to 1971, and replaced with a new one. The builders who took it away were told to “put some flowers in it or something,” according to the auction catalogue.
A builder who, curiously, goes by the name John Hancock, apparently stored it in his shed for 40 years until his recent death.
Anne-Marie Trace, who works at the Beatles Shop in Liverpool which organized the sale, said the high sale price took the organizers by surprise. “I think it’s the most unusual item we’ve ever had in our auction,” she told Reuters.
The buyer was not identified.
Auction organizer Stephen Bailey told BBC News, “We had bids coming in from all over the place but it went to a private overseas buyer.”

One of the best things about the Toronto International Film Festival is how it allows the entire city of Toronto to show off every year to some of the most famous, interesting and creative people in the world.
The flipside however, is that it also leaves the city open to international scrutiny. Which is a little embarrassing when you have a bedbug problem.
The Hollywood Reporter has been spreading the word down south that one of the main venues for the vaunted festival has come down with a severe case of the pesky critters.
The Scotiabank Theatre in downtown Toronto was apparently crawling not just with pests, but with pest control workers the other day, leading to fears the infestation could affect the festival.
This prompted Cameron Bailey, film critic and TIFF co-director, to Tweet that steps were already being taken to avoid the unseemly sight of celebs squirming in their seats.
“Before bed bugs becomes today’s meme,” Bailey wrote on the social networking site Twitter, “we’re on it, we’re talking to Cineplex and are planning for an itch-free (festival)”
A spokesperson for Cineplex Entertainment, which runs the theatre, said the company was investigating a report filed on Monday “from a guest who believes they were bitten by bed bugs at our Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto.” The spokesperson added that everything that can be done will be, as “the safety and security of our guests and staff are our No. 1 concern.”

Darren Aronofsky is apparently angling to helm X-Men: Wolverine 2. The writer/director of such cinematic masterpieces as Pi, Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler isn’t exactly known for making big-budget, crowd-pleasing blockbusters. That may be about to change.
Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox – which is looking for someone to pick up the bullhorn on the mutant superhero sequel – is seriously considering Aronofsky for the gig.
The acclaimed auteur is apparently facing off against David Slade, director of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Slade recently traveled to the Detroit set of Real Steel to meet with Jackman and discuss the idea of working together. Jackman is said to pull a fair amount of weight in the decision of who to hire.
Aronofsky, on the other hand, might have the edge in that particular department. He and Jackman worked together on The Fountain when Jackman stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Brad Pitt.
Tinsel Town speculation suggests that Aronofsky might be trying to broaden his palette by taking on Wolverine.
His latest movie is the upcoming ballet drama Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.
Shooting on X-Men: Wolverine 2 is scheduled to begin in January.

Slash is filing for divorce from his wife of nine years, Perla Ferrar.
TMZ reports that, according to legal documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Saul “Slash” Hudson cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist and Perla have two sons, ages 8 and 6. Slash is seeking joint custody and is willing to pay spousal support. There is no pre-nuptial agreement.
That doesn’t mean there are no hard feelings. Sources have described the break up as “extremely acrimonious.”
The couple wed in October 2001. According to TMZ, Slash lists the date of separation as July 15, 2010. He was previously married to Renee Suran.
Slash, 45, recently released a self-titled debut solo album, which features an impressive roster of guests, including Chris Cornell, Lemmy Kilmister, Ian Astbury, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Fergie. Also playing on the record are three of Slash’s former Appetite for Destruction-era GNR bandmates, Izzy Stradlin, Steven Adler and Duff McKagan. The only one not on the record is Axl Rose.
