American Idol star Jordin Sparks has suffered a setback in her first attempt to make a splash on Broadway. The season six winner has been forced to step away from the stage after injuring her hip this past weekend.

The Battlefield singer took a tumble this weekend while performing in the Broadway hit In The Heights. The hip injury, while not severe, is causing Jordin enough pain that she’ll have to sit out the next few performances.

Sparks debuted in the production in August and is expected to lead the cast until November 14. Though she’ll be taking the rest of the week off to heal, the 20-year-old is expected to bounce back quickly and return by week’s end.

The star signed on to the Tony Award winning musical back in May. She joined the production for a limited 12-week engagement at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on August 19.
