Eminem Reteams With Dr. Dre

Way back in 2001, Eminem had strong words for anyone he thought had forgot about Dre. Now, almost ten years later, the hip-hop superstar is set to prove once again that he hasn’t forgotten the man who brought him to the big leagues.

Eminem, a.k.a. Slim Shady, a.k.a. Marshall Mathers, revealed during an interview on Sirius radio that he’s back in the recording studio with Dr. Dre, the NWA beatman who once served as his mentor.

“I’m in the studio right now, still working. I would just say I’m in the studio with Dre right now, I’ll just say that,” Eminem told the 45 Shade radio station. “He’s in the next room. There’s nothing going on right now, but pretty soon he’ll play a beat and I might rap to it.”

Speculation has already begun that the rapper was there to lend a hand on Dre’s long-delayed Detox album. Detox had been set for release earlier this year, until tracks leaked to the internet and the Dr. retreated to his studio to continue work on the disc, Brian Wilson style.

Dr. Dre has made clear he still hopes to have the album drop before year’s end.

Kid Rock Blasts Steven Tyler

Filed under: Music, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 1:47 pm on

Kid Rock has blasted Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler over Tyler’s decision to join the judge’s panel on the upcoming season of American Idol. Rock says that Tyler has ruined his own image with the decision.

Starpulse reports that, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly to be published next week, Rock praises Tyler’s contributions to rock, but he also says the singer’s starring role on Idol will tarnish Tyler’s Hall of Fame legacy.

“I think it’s the stupidest thing he’s ever done in his life,” Rock reportedly tells the magazine. “He’s a sacred American institution of rock ‘n’ roll, and he just threw it all out the window. Just stomped on it and set it on fire.”

Rock apparently goes on to threaten to execute whichever member of Tyler’s managerial team made the call to get the rocker on the TV talent search.

“I think whoever”s advising him,” he says, “we should bring back the guillotine, or whatever they call that thing. And if it was himself, he needs some serious counseling. I love him to death, but I gotta speak the truth.”

Kid Rock’s new CD Born Free will hit store shelves November 16.

Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider Returns

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 1:26 pm on

When Nicolas Cage dons the leather jacket and climbs aboard his suicide machine for another race down the highway as the Ghost Rider, he may be feeling a little hotter under the collar than he did the last time.

That’s because Cage will be playing both Johnny Blaze and his flame-headed alter-ego in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the upcoming sequel to 2007’s Ghost Rider .

Collider tracked down Spirit of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor in an effort to get an explanation for a Twitter post from last week that read: “The dual role of blaze/zarathos will be a nic cage classic.”

The tweet led many fans to believe Cage would be playing both hero and villain. But as Taylor explained to the site, Blaze and Zarathos are actually one and the same.

“Zarathos is the spirit of vengeance that inhabits John Blaze when he becomes Ghost Rider,” Taylor tells the site. “Unlike the first movie, where the rider was stiffly acted out by a various stunt guys, Nic will be playing all the Ghost Rider stuff himself – and we are creating a whole physical language for the demon that is different from the human Blaze.”

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance roars into theatres February 17, 2012.

Goonies Goes to Broadway

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 1:08 pm on

It’s been 25 years since The Goonies went looking for buried treasure. To mark the occasion, Warner Bros. is releasing a 25th anniversary DVD/Blu-ray special edition of the beloved family adventure flick, which is exciting, but not nearly as exciting as news that the movie may be in line for an adaptation as a Broadway musical.

Director Richard Donner recently spoke to Collider and revealed that plans are already underway to take the story of Mikey, Mouth, Data and Chunk to the Great White Way.
“Hopefully we’re doing this as a musical on Broadway,” Donner told the site. “It took forever to get on Broadway. It was a long, long process but it just got a lot shorter because there’s a great writer/producer (Tim Long) who does musicals on The Simpsons which are classic. He just delivered a treatment on Goonies as a musical and it’s friggin’ great.”

Less likely is a sequel. Despite a rash of remakes, reboots and relaunches of 80s classics coming out of Hollywood, Donner says that every attempt to create another Goonies story only leaves him more convinced that some things are better off left alone.

“We were thinking that (the sequel) for years back, couldn’t do it,” says the director. “Felt like everything we were doing would hurt what we had with the original, hence the musical.”

The Goonies special edition DVD/Blu-Ray will land on store shelves November 2nd.

Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen?

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 12:56 pm on

Once upon a time Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were both set to star in the Road Warrior sequel Mad Max: Fury Road. But when that project ran out of gas, both stars were left stranded.

Now the two may find themselves paired up once again in the darkest corners of the fairy tale woods.

The Playlist reports that both Theron and Hardy are rumoured to be on the short list of possible stars for the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman. A retelling of the classic fairy tale, the new story will focus on the relationship between the heroine and the Queen’s henchman sent into the woods to kill her.

While the classic story has the Huntsman simply leaving Snow White in the woods rather than doing her in, in the new version, the Huntsman will teach her how to survive and escape the Evil Queen’s plans.

Oscar-winner Theron is said to be in line to play the Queen now that Angelina Jolie is busy with her Bosnian war love story. Hardy, who recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, is rumoured to be playing the Huntsman.

The only kink in the plans could be the news that Nolan wants to bring Hardy onboard his third Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises. Depending on when film starts rolling, Hardy’s schedules could overlap.

True Blood Star to Play Charles Manson

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 8:59 am on

Ryan Kwanten, the Australian actor who plays Sookie’s horny brother Jason Stackhouse on HBO’s True Blood, will star as Charles Manson in The Family.

Scott Kosar, the screenwriter behind The Machinist, will be making his directorial debut with the movie, for which he has also written the script. He tells Shock ‘Till You Drop that the picture isn’t a biopic of Manson himself, but a story about the rag-tag group of teens who came to call themselves The Family.

“The movie won’t focus on the Manson murders,” he says. “Nor is it a Manson biopic. It’s a family biopic. A movie about a surrogate family of wayward teenagers who, through extraordinary circumstances, came together and were transformed into the most notorious American family of the 20th century.”

Kosar tells the site that despite the violence and terrifying subject matter, he doesn’t consider his flick a conventional scary movie. “It is not a horror film,” he says. “Though the subject is inherently horrific. The goal is to do, finally, after forty years, the first authentic film about the so-called Manson Family.”

Kwanten was a popular soap opera actor in his native land before leaving for Hollywood. After starring in the teen drama Summerland, the 33-year-old starred in the movies Flicka and Don’t Fade Away before joining the True Blood cast.

Shooting on The Family is set to begin early next year.

M:I4 Gets a Title

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 8:53 am on

Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and director Brad Bird took time off from the very first day of shooting the new Mission: Impossible to thank the emirate of Dubai and to announce the title of the latest installment of the franchise.

The blockbuster production has started shooting in and around Dubai, prompting the press conference at the Burj Khalifa. The fourth M:I is the first major Hollywood movie set in the city according to a report in Gulf News.

“I would like to thank Shaikh Mohammad for making this happen in this beautiful city,” Cruise told the crowd. “It’s going to be a great representation of the city – it’s very cinematic here.”

Cruise then announced that the latest chapter of the M:I story will be the first without a numerical title.

“One of the things I always wanted for the franchise was for it not to have a number afterwards,” said Cruise. “I’ve never done sequels to films and I never thought of these films as sequels. Paramount has done a great job in coming up with a title, so it’s not going to be MI2, 3, 4: it’s going to be Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.”

The new movie will find Cruise handing over the reins of the franchise to Hurt Locker star Renner.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol will drop into theatres December 16, 2011.

Get a Gaga Meat Dress Knockoff

Filed under: Music, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 8:49 am on

When you saw Lady Gaga appear at last month’s the MTV VMAs wearing an outfit made of meat –  including dress, shoes, hat and purse — you probably didn’t expect meat to become a fashion trend, right?

The New York Daily News reports that Marc Sherry of Old Homestead Steakhouse, located in New York’s Meatpacking District, has created a knockoff, available for the low price of $100, 000.

“I wanted it to be a cut above,” said Sherry of the dress, which weighs 85 pounds. Apparently, he thought Gaga’s version was “very tacky” because it was made from flank steaks.

His team, which included his general manager and kitchen staff, created a dress made from porterhouse, leggings from rib eye and boots of kobe beef, all USDA prime.

The outfit, which you can cook and eat, comes with a designer goody bag stuffed with filet mignon, chocolate sauce, kobe burgers and candy corn.

“It smells so good,” said Mery Lopez, 26, a waitress-turned-model who posed for the press wearing the outfit. “It’s heavy, but not that much.”

“It’s a learning process and I think we’re doing a pretty good job,” said executive chef Oscar Martinez. “I’m not Oscar de la Renta when it comes to design.”

Celine Dion Wishes She Had Girls

Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion gave birth to twin boys this past weekend, but the star confessed in her first post-birth interview that she would have loved to have a daughter.

Dion, 42, and her husband Rene Angelil, 68, conceived the children after undergoing in-vitro fertilization treatments. The boys were born Saturday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida by Caesarean section.

The star told France’s Gala magazine she would have loved to bring home a sister for her nine-year-old son Rene-Charles. “Honestly if I had a choice, certainly I’d have liked to have a girl,” Dion told the magazine.

“But the day I learned that I was expecting two boys, I wasn’t disappointed. It was a day of tremendous joy. I’m truly happy. Everything went well and the babies are in good health. That’s all that counts.”

Now the family is struggling to name the boys, going back and forth between French and English names. “Because Rene-Charles goes to school in the United States, he’s suggested English first names,” Dion says. “My mother, on the other hand, has been hinting about very French first names and we’re going a little bit crazy trying to decide.”

One thing the singer has decided is that she’s not about to go on any crazy diets to lose the baby weight. “I don’t care about my figure,” she says. “Besides I have a really good stylist and if it’s a question of going up a dress size or two – well, so be it.”
