Lady Gaga Treats Fans to McDonald’s Meal

Is stars buying dinner for their fans a new thing? Beyonce recently treated some UK fans who were waiting in line to view a taping of a TV show to some pizza, and on Thursday (July 28) Lady Gaga did the same with McDonald’s burgers and fries.

Contact Music reports that the pop star was prepping to perform as part of Jimmy Kimmel’s concert series at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles, so, of course, several of her Little Monsters (Gaga’s name for her fans) gathered outside with the hopes of catching a glimpse of Mother Monster.

And when Gaga discovered they were out there, she sent them some supper. A note was included, which read “Dear little monsters. Thank you for singing to me all day and night. I love you with all my heart.”

She added some love for police as well: “You make everyday worth living. Kisses to the cops for keeping you safe. Love Lady Gaga.”

Gaga’s concert took place right near Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, where the previous evening a movie premiere turned into a riot thanks to an impromptu street party. Concerns that a similar incident would break out thankfully proved unfounded.

Bradley Cooper Would Do Anything for Hangover III

July 29, 2011

There’s been talk of a Hangover III for quite some time, since even before The Hangover Part II hit theatres. And if Bradley Cooper has any say in the matter, there will be a third chapter to the story of dudes on the loose.

The Limitless star tells BBC Radio 1 that he’ll do whatever director Todd Phillips has in mind for a chance to go one more round with the Wolf Pack.

Asked by radio host Fearne Cotton whether he’d be up for a third adventure, Cooper, who played Phil in both The Hangover and The Hangover Part II, replied, “Yes please, I hope so – can you write in? I’ll do whatever Todd wants to do – he’s the best, he’s the greatest. I love Phil the character. I would do it in a heartbeat.”

Cooper says if nothing else, he thinks a third Hangover is needed just for closure.

“There’s gotta be a trilogy, you have to close it up,” he says. “One more.”

Phillips said in May that there were already plans for a third movie, but no script or start date. Cooper’s co-star Zach Galifianakis, meanwhile, told Rolling Stone in June that he’s heard the plot of the third flick centres around the Wolf Pack helping his character escape from a mental institution.

The Hangover Part II was a critical disaster but a box office smash.

Jackass Movies Now Available on Facebook

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 2:20 pm on

July 29, 2011

Online movie rental competition is heating up, and Facebook only recently joined the melee. Warner has started making its movies available through the social networking site. Now Jackass fans can rent movies by their favourite gang of goons as well.

Paramount Pictures has announced plans to make all three Jackass movies – plus two digital features – available online to Facebook users, on the Jackass Facebook page.

EW reports that the first 3 Jackass movies (one and 2 and the digital 2.5) will be rentable (by users 17 and over) for 30 Facebook credits valued at $2.99. Jackass 3 and 3.5 will be available for 40 Facebook credits, of $3.99. All movies will be viewable for 48 hours after renting.

“The secret to the enduring popularity of Jackass goes beyond the jaw dropping stunts and cringe-worthy pranks, it’s the true friendship that exists between each one of the Jackass members,” says Thomas Lesinski, president of Paramount Digital Entertainment. “What better way for the millions of Jackass fans to celebrate the legacy of these pioneers of social entertainment than through Facebook.”

Olivia Wilde to Play Linda Lovelace?

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 2:08 pm on

July 29, 2011

Cowboys & Aliens star Olivia Wilde says she’s considering taking on the role of 1970’s adult movie star, turned feminist crusader, Linda Lovelace.

The Hollywood starlet tell E! Online she’s been offered the lead role in the upcoming biopic Lovelace, set to be directed by Oscar-winners Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman.

“It would be a tremendous honour,” Wilde says. “It’s such a cool role. She was a fascinating woman, with where she came from to Deep Throat to then working with Gloria Steinem and Nora Ephron. It’s really fascinating.”

Despite her interest in the part, Wilde hasn’t signed on just yet, as she feels she’s now in the position to be very selective about the roles she signs on for.

“I’m being very careful about my next project since I’m now in a position where I can be really picky – thank God – finally.”

Lovelace is not to be confused with the Linda Lovelace movie Lindsay Lohan had been attached to. That picture jettisoned LiLo following her recent legal troubles, leading to Watchmen’s Malin Akerman landing the role.

Word is 127 Hours star James Franco is also being courted for a role in Lovelace as the star’s allegedly abusive husband Chuck Traynor. Franco worked with Epstein and Friedman on last year’s Howl.

Morrissey Likens Norway Massacre to Fast Food

Filed under: Music, Rock, Sympatico, Uncategorized — D.I.S.H. @ 12:26 pm on

July 29, 2011

British pop star Morrissey allegedly says the recent tragic massacre in Norway is “nothing” compared to the killing of animals for food.

The Daily Mirror reports that the former singer for iconic 80s alternative band The Smiths made the comments this past weekend during a concert in Warsaw, Poland.

“We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead. Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried s–t every day,” the singer is reported to have said, before launching into his song Meat is Murder.

In fact, 76 people died in the massacre.

A spokesperson for the singer tells UK paper the Guardian “There is no more to say on the matter, thank you.”

Morrissey himself, however, made a statement to fansite True to You, after some took issue with the comments.

He said, “The comment I made on stage at Warsaw could be further explained this way – Millions of beings are routinely murdered every single day in order to fund profits for McDonalds and KFCruelty, but because these murders are protected by laws, we are asked to feel indifferent about the killings, and to not even dare question them.

“If you quite rightly feel horrified at the Norway killings, then it surely naturally follows that you feel horror at the murder of ANY innocent being. You cannot ignore animal suffering simply because animals ‘are not us’.”

The rocker has long voiced extreme views on the subjects of animal rights, telling BBC Radio 4 earlier this year that he wasn’t happy to hear that British Prime Minister David Cameron was a Smiths fan, because Cameron had also admitted to having hunted stag.

“It’s a moral issue,” he told the radio station. “Killing a stag is like killing a child. What’s the difference?”

Duff McKagan: Winehouse Critics Don’t Understand Addiction

Filed under: Music, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 12:12 pm on

July 29, 2011

Rocker Duff McKagan says anyone criticizing late soul singer Amy Winehouse for not overcoming her addictions doesn’t understand the true nature of drug and alcohol dependency.

The former Guns N’ Roses bassist is himself a recovering addict. In a column for the Seattle Weekly titled Nobody Chooses Addiction; Not Even Amy Winehouse, McKagan says critics blaming the singer for her own death are missing the point.

“For those of you who may say, ‘Yeah, but she had EVERYTHING! Why would she waste her time on drugs; she should have JUST GOTTEN SOBER!’, let me just say a few things: no one loves to be addicted; no singer or musician I have ever known has dreamed of one day being successful AND strung out…

“The ’specialists’ and talking heads on cable news are criticizing Amy Winehouse’s inner circle of ‘advisors’. I know Amy’s manager and accountant, and I also know that both of them are VERY stand-up people. It is a shame that people like this, people who have tried their best to help Ms. Winehouse in the past few years, get their names dragged through the mud.”

McKagan says what should be remembered is the person who was lost.

“In the end, it is just so sad to have lost this young woman to what will most likely be discovered to be, drugs. She was a talent. She was different. She railed against the norm. She was a musical trailblazer.”

Soulja Boy Buys $55 Million Jet?

Filed under: Music, Sympatico, Urban — D.I.S.H. @ 12:03 pm on

July 29, 2011

Hip-hop star Soulja Boy has reportedly bought his own private jet – for $55 million.

According to TMZ, the rapper – real name DeAndre Cortez Way – bought the plane, a Gulfstream G5, for $35 million and will be spending an extra $20 million to get it just the way he wants it.

The plane, which Soulja bought for himself as a 21st birthday present, will be customized with 12 Italian leather seats, four liquor bars, Brazilian hardwood cabinets and a number of new flatscreen TVs.

The G5 will also sport a new paint job featuring Soulja Boy’s logo.

Soulja Boy burst onto the music scene back in 2007 with his hit song Crank That (Soulja Boy). In 2010 Forbes magazine named him the 18th highest earning hip-hop star, with an income of over $6 million.

Still, the Chicago rapper might consider banking some of that money. While his 2007 debut studio album Souljaboytellem was certified platinum by the RIAA, his two follow ups, 2008’s iSouljaBoyTellem and 2010’s The DeAndre Way did not achieve the same commercial success. The latter has only sold about 60,000 copies in the U.S. to date.

Poison, Crue Rockers Subject of Federal Investigation

Filed under: Music, Rock, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 8:55 am on

July 29, 2011

Tommy Lee and Bret Michaels are the subject of a federal investigation in North Carolina.

WSOCTV News reports that the Motley Crue drummer and Poison frontman, currently on a tour of the U.S. with their respective glam metal groups, visited a shooting range in Rowan County.

The outlet ran photos and, while WSOCTV does not say exactly why the investigation is underway, it notes that the visit “could be illegal if any of the men has a criminal record that prohibits them from using guns.” Various reports suggest that anyone with a felony conviction may not possess or fire a gun.

It’s not clear whether Michaels has a criminal record, but Lee pleaded no contest to kicking then wife Pamela Anderson in the 1990s.

The rockers were apparently unaware they might be committing an offense and were even escorted to the range by police.

Sheriff Kevin Auten reportedly said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is investigating to check the men’s criminal backgrounds and learn more about the weapons.

Entourage: The Motion Picture is Happening

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 8:53 am on

July 29, 2011

The hit HBO series Entourage may be ending its run on TV, but fans shouldn’t despair – plans are already in the works for a big screen adventure for Vince and the gang.

Show creators Doug Ellin and and Mark Wahlberg tell EW they’re committed to bringing the boys from the show to the big screen.

“We’re going to do a movie,” Ellin told the magazine at the TV critics press tour. “We’re going to do it. It’s a question of when and how quick. We’ll sit down and come up with an idea.”

Wahlberg went so far as to admit that he wants an Entourage movie so badly he’s willing to pay for it himself.

“Well, I said if I had to finance myself, I’d do it,” he said. “I certainly hope it has a chance to become a feature film, everybody always says the episodes are too short. [Viewers] want to go on a journey. The Hangover to me is like Entourage.”

The stars of the show seem to agree, with Jeremy Piven – who plays slimy agent Ari Gold on the series – adding “I think [the final season] is a gratifying way to finish, yet I also feel we could transition into a movie.”

Kevin Bacon Joins Ryan Reynolds in R.I.P.D.

Filed under: Entertainment, Sympatico — D.I.S.H. @ 8:51 am on

July 29, 2011

Kevin Bacon seems to be honing his skills at playing comic book villains.

The Footloose star has recently been cast as a bad guy in both X-Men: First Class and the superhero satire Super. Now industry trade magazine Variety reports Bacon will once again show off his villainous side by starring opposite Ryan Reynolds in R.I.P.D.

Based on the comic book series by Peter Lenkov, R.I.P.D. tells the story of a dead police officer (to be played by Reynolds) who finds himself drafted into a squad of undead officers in the Rest In Peace Department.

Given a second chance at justice, the dead cop heads off in pursuit of the man who killed him.

Flightplan director Robert Schwentke is on board to shoot the picture, working from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi and Neil H. Moritz, based on Lenkov’s Dark Horse comic.

While Bacon seems to be happy playing comic book bad guys, co-star Reynolds has been busy doing the opposite. R.I.P.D. will be the star’s third comic book good guy role in recent years, following X-Men Origins: Wolverine (in which he played Deadpool) and this summer’s Green Lantern.
